CHSO Launch of the Providence Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation

January 17, 2022

Announcing the Launch of the Providence Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation

Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario is excited to announce the launch of the Providence Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, a new initiative that furthers our vision of healthy communities and care for all.

In 2019, CHSO committed to developing and launching the new Centre as a means of exploring how to reduce poverty, increase social justice, identify unmet needs and create systems of support and care for the most vulnerable in our society.

The work of the Centre will focus on advocacy, influencing public policy and fostering structural change related to key issues associated with poverty, social justice, and the environment. Areas of priority will include income security including basic income, living wage and decent work; affordable housing; food security; climate justice; peace and security; and interfaith dialogue.

The Centre’s ethic and programs will be congruent with the principles of Catholic social teaching, and will be ecumenical and interfaith in character, approach and participation.

The Centre’s work will focus on influencing relevant policy issues through organizing, networking, education, and advocacy. It will commit to maintaining/building strong connections with social justice groups, interfaith groups, religious congregations and others at provincial and national levels, as well as with relevant government and associated governmental bodies.
